Visual Inspection
The rivets obtained from the cast in green sand (Figure 1) presented a poor surface finish, with a lot of porosity and burrs. This was due to the granulometry of the sand used to make the mold, which had a considerably large size, causing the molten aluminum to penetrate these holes, generating the porosities and burrs. However, these factors were considered in the manufacturing project, so it was previously planned, after the casting, besides the removal of the feed channel, also a surface treatment, where a grinder was used to remove both the burrs and the surface porosities.

Dimensional Inspection
The green casting process ensured excellent dimensional accuracy. The designed model printed in 3D ensured an exact dimension for aluminum shrinkage during solidification, so the diameter of the rivet obtained had an average value of 7 mm, which was the value projected by the team.
